The 7th Annual Around Cincinnati Christmas special will air from 7-9pm on Sunday, December 18th and repeat on Christmas Day, December 25th. This 2-hour special offers a nostalgic Christmas with favorite Cincinnati-area jazz musicians during the first hour from two albums produced by WVXU : A WVXU Cincinnati Christmas Album (1985) and XStar Jazz Christmas (1996).
The special begins with Ira Joe Fisher narrating a Cincinnati version of “The Night Before Christmas." You'll enjoy seasonal music from Rob Reider, Mary Ellen Tanner, and Larry Kinley, along with Ruth Lyons veterans, Cliff Lash, Marian Spelman, and Ruby Wright. Additional well-known jazz musicians include Standard Time, Eddie Morgan & Ann Chamberlain, Sylvain Archer & Fabian, and Patrick Kelly & the PsychoAcoustic Orchestra.
The second hour will feature songs from one of Mama Jazz's 2003 Christmas programs which aired originally on WMUB. There will be music from Ramsey Lewis's album, Sound of Christmas, which was one of her favorites, as well as from Louis Armstrong, Rosemary Clooney and one with her brother Nick Clooney, and also Vince Guaraldi. |
