Greater Cincinnati Home sales building momentum

For 22 straight months Greater Cincinnati home sales have continued to climb. In April they were up 24% in Cincinnati and 17% in Northern Kentucky.

Number of homes sold

Cincinnati home sales for last month totaled 1,919 compared to 1,547 a year ago. Four hundred sixty-nine homes were sold in Northern Kentucky in April compared to 400 in April of 2012.

La Salle shooting victim moved to rehab

The La Salle student who shot himself at school last month is being moved from the UC Medical Center to a rehab facility.

For weeks the honors student was in critical condition after shooting himself in class. His family released this statement Thursday:

“Dear Friends, this has truly been an emotional time for our family as you might imagine. Our faith has helped us tremendously along with the knowledge that so many people who did not even know our son or family, were keeping us in their thoughts and prayers.

Tough economic times hit Contemporary Arts Center

Facing a deficit, the Contemporary Arts Center is taking steps to get back in the black. Initiatives include a reduction in personnel (4 people or 16% of employees), a reorganization of staff in key areas, a 20% reduction in the director’s salary, increasing contributed and earned revenue, and reducing the draw on the museum’s investments.

ADHD linked to traffic pollution

New research from the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center finds kids who live near or attend school near a major highway or interstate have an increased risk for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) because of the traffic- related pollution.

Lots of kids could be at risk

Studies have shown 40% of children attend school within 400 meters of a major highway. Another 11% of the population in the U.S.

Indictment in Flying Pig incident

If convicted, a Colerain Township man faces up to six years in prison for a series of incidents at the Flying Pig Marathon and related events. The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office has indicted 49 year old David Moore, a registered marathon participant on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and menacing by stalking.
