Law enforcement officers from around Greater Cincinnati held their traditional observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day, part of National Police Week. Here are photos from the ceremony held at the Cincinnati Police Memorial in front of District One Headquarters.
Twelve mobile food vendors lined the street along Washington Park Friday as Cincinnati dedicated its newest mobile food vending zone.
Council Member Laure Quinlivan created the program in 2010. Last year, it was expanded to Fountain Square and the Purple People Bridge. This year, it's being expanded to Washington Park and Over-the-Rhine.
The OTR vending spot is on 12th Street, near Clay, and is open to food trucks from 6 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. The Washington park zone is open from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Two Cincinnati Council Members are supporting a plan to eliminate all the proposed firefighter layoffs while reducing police officer layoffs to 25.
Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls and Council Member Chris Seelbach announced the proposal Thursday.
“We will continue to look for additional savings that could reduce layoffs even further,” Qualls said in a press release. “We must preserve essential services that keep all of our neighborhoods safe and clean.”
