The opening of the Banks riverfront development is about a year away. Although construction on the parking garages, the apartments and retail spaces are well under way, there’s still no word on what businesses might open at the site. Tom Gableman is Special Project Counsel to Hamilton County on the project. He says that’s not unusual. He says the developer is talking with several retailers, but those announcements aren’t likely to be made until the deals are final. Gabelman says there is a space that could accommodate a grocery store and project executive John Deatrick says that’s still a priority of the developer. Meanwhile the project continues to come in under budget. Bids opened yesterday for two plumbing projects were about 10% less than the engineer’s estimates.
