West End Health Center Closed

" The American Flag still flies over the West End Health Center. Keep an eye on our flag. When that strong symbol no longer flies over 1413 Linn, you will be apprised that we have exhausted our solutions."
Jenny Edwards, West End Health Center Board Chair

After weeks and weeks of trying to raise the funds to stay open, the West End Health Center closed today.

Board Chair Jenny Edwards says she’s hopeful the center may be able to reopen. She says she and other staff are trying to find more operating money and while they look the American flag will continue to fly outside the center. She says if the flag comes down, it will mean they’ve exhausted all possibilities.

Although the center is closed now, Edwards says there will be information on the door for patients about how they can get their records.

The Cincinnati Health Department has been working with the center to help transition patients to other places for care. Spokesman Rocky Merz says it will take on additional patients at its centers.

Merz says patients won’t be turned away, but the wait to see a doctor may be longer than usual.
