Twelve mobile food vendors lined the street along Washington Park Friday as Cincinnati dedicated its newest mobile food vending zone.

Council Member Laure Quinlivan created the program in 2010.  Last year, it was expanded to Fountain Square and the Purple People Bridge.  This year, it's being expanded to Washington Park and Over-the-Rhine.

The OTR vending spot is on 12th Street, near Clay, and is open to food trucks from 6 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.  The Washington park zone is open from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The CEO of Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason, Carol Silver Elliott, is the only U.S. representative at the China Aging Industry Summit Forum this week in Shanghai.

The Deerfield Township woman was invited to give an overview of aging services in the U.S, in part because she serves on two national boards.

Two Cincinnati Council Members are supporting a plan to eliminate all the proposed firefighter layoffs while reducing police officer layoffs to 25.  

Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls and Council Member Chris Seelbach announced the proposal Thursday.

“We will continue to look for additional savings that could reduce layoffs even further,” Qualls said in a press release.  “We must preserve essential services that keep all of our neighborhoods safe and clean.”
