Cincinnati Council is expected to vote Wednesday to approve the city’s first comprehensive plan in more than 30 years. 

The Livable Communities Committee approved the proposal Monday night. 

The document has been in the works for more than 3 years and focuses on what the city will look like in the future.  Specifically it has strategies that for the first time focus on economic development activities in the neighborhoods. 

Planning and Buildings Director Charles Graves described the plan this way.

Hamilton County Commissioners are pushing back the date to pass a 2013 general fund budget.

Board President Greg Hartmann's plan has two votes but he'd prefer to present a unified front and have it pass unanimously.

Brad Wenstrup, the newly-elected congressman from Ohio's 2nd Congressional District, has volunteered to join the House Republican Policy Committee, a group which helps set the legislative agenda for House Republicans.

Wenstrup - a 54-year-old podiatrist and Iraq war veteran from Columbia Tusculum - takes office in January, after pulling an upset victory over Rep. Jean Schmidt in the March GOP primary and easily defeating a little-known and seldom-seen Democrat, William R. Smith of Pike County, in the November election. Wenstrup won with 59 percent of the vote.
