Two Ohio sites are now National Historic Landmarks. The sites in Dayton and Akron were added Wednesday along with 25 others.

Ohio academic data is now out after being delayed by a student-attendance investigation. Cincinnati dropped a category from Effective to Continuous Improvement. Superintendent Mary Ronan has a plan to improve the district's academic report card.

"We really would have liked to have stayed effective but in order to do this our performance index or final grade would have to be 90 and it was 88.5."

Ronan says the district's focus is now firmly on implementing new and more rigorous academic standards.

Cincinnati Children's Hospital is announcing what it says could be the biggest breakthrough in muscular dystrophy treatment in years.  A patient at Children's is believed to be the first in the nation with Duchenne  muscular dystrophy to have a device implanted to help his heart pump blood to the body long-term.   

Ohio voters will be able to cast ballots at their county boards of election on the final three days before the election, after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s appeal of a federal court ruling.

Immediately after the decision was rendered by the U.S. Supreme Court, Husted, the Republican who is Ohio’s chief elections officer, issued a directive to all 88 county boards of elections setting uniform hours for voting in-person at the boards on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday before the Tuesday, Nov. 6 election.

Wooten is saying goodbye to the Cincinnati Zoo. The 630-pound manatee will soon be headed to his native Florida. Next month he'll return to the wild as part of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Manatee Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release Program. Wooten has been at the Cincinnati Zoo for the last two years.

Last year another zoo manatee, Illusion, was released. The Cincinnati Zoo still has one manatee. Right now there are no plans for Betsy to leave.
