A new location for the Cincinnati Police Department’s District 3 headquarters could be announced within the next two to three weeks.

Officials have narrowed the list of possible sites down to four locations.

Those are:

Following Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's announcement that civilian furloughs have been reduced from 14 days to 11, officials at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton are outlining their plans for dealing with sequester cuts.

In an email to WVXU, Public Affairs Specialist Ted Theopolos writes:

Cincinnati park officials are laying out some drastic changes you could expect this summer if proposed budget cuts are approved by City Council. Fountains could be turned off, lakes could be drained and flower beds could go unplanted.

Ault Park's Facebook page lists more closings that could be considered including the Mt. Airy Dog Park and Disc Golf course, a handful of entire parks, and all park restrooms.

For now, Cincinnati Council members will likely still be able to call for separate votes on items contained in larger ordinances and motions.  

The Rules and Government Operations Committee Tuesday approved a plan to delete the provision from the current Council rules.  But right now only five members support it and it takes six affirmative votes to change it.  

Rules Committee Chairwoman Yvette Simpson said the "move to separate" is confusing.

Cincinnati Police Chief James Craig is officially going home. Craig is taking the top job in his hometown of Detroit.

"It's home," says Craig. "My family, my siblings, mom and dad who are aging, those are big draws... I started my policing career there almost 38 years ago. This is an opportunity to finish my policing career in a city that I love and make a difference."

Craig says he's excited about the opportunity and thankful for his time and the people in Cincinnati, adding he wouldn't have been considered for the Detroit job without his experiences here.
