Park District going high-tech; changing name and look

The newly renamed Great Parks of Hamilton County will feature a bird-themed logo.

The Hamilton County Park District is going high-tech to deal with the Emerald Ash Borer.

Park employees are using iPads to track ash trees and assess the situation across the county.

Executive Director Jack Sutton says the data is used to determine which trees should be treated or removed.

Indictment in Flying Pig incident

If convicted, a Colerain Township man faces up to six years in prison for a series of incidents at the Flying Pig Marathon and related events. The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office has indicted 49 year old David Moore, a registered marathon participant on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and menacing by stalking.

Pillich to take on Mandel for Ohio treasurer

State Rep. Connie Pillich, a Democrat from Montgomery, announced this morning she will take on Republican incumbent Josh Mandel for the Ohio treasurer's office in 2014.

Pillich, who represents the 28th Ohio House District in northern Hamilton County, won re-election last year after Republicans in the Ohio General Assembly had re-drawn her district to make it considerably more Republican.

She is a third term state representative, a retired captain in the U.S. Air Force, and a lawyer.

There, David Birdsall, senior vice president of Strategic Investment Funds for Phillips Edison, hopes to find retailers for this new development.
