Pete Rose Way closing

Pete Rose Way will close Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. for construction work taking down the pedestrian stairway.

WHEN:

Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Jan. 17; and again on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. One lane of traffic in each direction will be open on the affected section of Pete Rose Way on Thurs., Jan. 17 and Jan. 18 after 6 a.m.

Building a worldwide digital archive library



UC is helping to spearhead an effort to digitize rare library collections worldwide.


Archivist and historian Kevin Grace is just back from Vancouver where he spoke to representatives from 26 countries. More and more people want to access special collections without having to go to remote places to look at them.


Grace says lots of U.S. universities are putting rare photos and books online but many other countries lack the resources to put the necessary background information to go with them.

ODOT launches traffic website

With all the construction that’s likely to start up on Ohio roads this spring and summer, this may be some good news for drivers from ODOT.

The transportation department is launching ohgo.com, where ODOT director Jerry Wray says travelers can customize their trips within six major Ohio cities and between different regions of the state.

Cincinnati Council delays public restroom vote

A Cincinnati Council Committee wants more information before proceeding with a plan to add freestanding restrooms in Downtown and Over-the-Rhine.

 City administrators will do more research and report back on the issue.  

The original plan called for installing a “Portland Loo” at Findlay Market as a test location.  But some Council Members balked at the $130,000 price tag for the project including Wendell Young.

City targets Carthage and Mt. Airy for improvement

Carthage and Mt. Airy are the two newest communities targeted for Cincinnati's Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP). 

Beginning March 1, police, businesses and civic groups will work together on an accelerated revitalization and reinvestment plan.
