The March issue of Cincinnati Magazine is out with its “Where to Eat 2013” list. Dining Editor Donna Covertt joins Mark Perzel to talk about assembling this list, the changing landscape of the Cincinnati dining scene, and how exactly she judges a place like Orchid’s to one of her newest favorites, Eli’s Barbecue.

Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day, but Saturday at noon is the kick-off to the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade through the streets of Cincinnati. While mostly known for our German heritage, Cincinnati has a long history of Irish influence through the generations. Mark Perzel is joined on the phone by Kevin Grace, head of the Archives and Rare Books Library at the University of Cincinnati, who has written Irish Cincinnati, a book detailing the impact and influence of the Irish during Cincinnati’s history.

This year’s Cincinnati Pops Classical Roots concert happens Friday, March 15 at Music Hall. This celebration of the musical contributions of African-Americans will feature conductor John Morris Russell, the incomparable Branford Marsalis, and the CSO Classical Roots Community Mass Choir featuring singers from over 30 area churches. John Morris Russell is in the studio with Mark Perzel to talk about the importance of this one-night only concert, and some of the unsung heroes they will be saluting.

Dress for Success Cincinnati has launched its Professional Women’s Network, a support system for clients who have landed a job and need help transitioning into the work world. The group, which meets on Saturdays, will discuss the corporate environment, advancement, communications and other skills required to build a successful career. Dress for Success Executive Director Julie Smith-Morrow joins Mark Perzel to talk about this new effort to support women as they move from unemployment to employment.

If you only know the name Bebe Neuwirth from her role as Lilith on the long running sitcom “Cheers,” then you’ve only just scratched the talented surface of this multi-talented performer. She’s a two-time Tony Award winner for roles in “Chicago” and “Sweet Charity,” plus she originated the role of Morticia in the Broadway musical The Addams Family. She’s in Cincinnati Saturday night for a performance called Stories With Piano at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, sponsored by the Mayerson JCC. She is on the phone with Mark Perzel to discuss her career and what the audience can expect in her Saturday night show.
