Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

Partnership considered to rehab Memorial Hall

Memorial Hall served as a filming location for George Clooney's "Ides of March."

Memorial Hall is one of Hamilton County's storied venues but it often sits empty because of a lack of modern amenities like air conditioning.

The Memorial Hall Society, 3CDC and Hamilton County Commissioners are considering a partnership to revitalize the building.

Society president Bill Baumann says, "Our vision for Memorial Hall is to help it transition from an underutilized facility to and active arts center with a diverse offering of music concerts and other performing arts programs, film presentations, lectures and art exhibitions."

Last weekend for hazardous waste collection

This is the last weekend for Hamilton County's free hazardous waste drop-off program. The site closes for the year Saturday.

Blood donors needed

Hoxworth Blood Center is putting out the call for blood and platelet donors.

Spokeswoman Alecia Lipton says area blood supplies are at a fragile level.

"Some of that is due to a very low donor turn out. We can blame part of that on cold and flu symptoms going around but also (Tuesday), due to the weather, we had some folks who were no-shows for their appointments," she says.

Lipton says all blood types are needed and platelet donors are especially important.

Health District doesn't need county approval

Hamilton County Commissioners are modifying the approval process for something called "then and now" resolutions proposed by the Public Health District.

The resolutions allow the district to pay organizations it does business with.

Commissioner Chris Monzel says the district shouldn't have to get approval from the board and a legal opinion from the county prosecutor agrees.
