37th Oktoberfeset Zinzinnati is this weekend

The 37th annual Oktoberfest Zinzinnati begins this weekend.  The event billed as the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the world, only behind the original in Munich, Germany is expected to draw a half million people.

Spokesman Chris Kemper says this year for the first time there will be a live Glockenspiel or clock tower at the East end of the event, with celebrities and dancers coming out every hour to ring the bell and mark each hour of the event.

The world's largest chicken dance will also be performed at Oktoberfest this year.  Former Reds Pitcher Tom Browning will lead the event.

Kemper says the event will be a bit bigger this year and will also move one block East starting on Fountain Square to Sentinel.  It opens Saturday at 11:00 and runs through ten Sunday night.  There will also be a sneak peak just on Fountain Square on Friday from noon to Midnight.

Maryanne Zeleznik is responsible for all news and public affairs programming at WVXU. She also hosts Morning Edition Monday through Friday.
