amazon.com

Our nation's 16th president is often viewed as a man who was above politics, but in the first book of his multi-volume biography of Abraham Lincoln, Sidney Blumenthal says Lincoln was intensely ambitious, a political genius who held aspirations from his earliest years.

Blumenthal is the former assistant and senior adviser to President Bill Clinton and senior adviser to Hillary Clinton.  He's been a writer for several national publications as well as the author of several books on modern-day politics, including The Permanent Campaign.

He joins us this afternoon to talk about his latest book, A Self-Made Man: The Political Life of Abraham Lincoln, 1809-1849.
