Big Red Machine '76 World Series Sweep On Fox Sports Ohio

Cincinnati Reds

Now here's a Reds team we can cheer for! Fox Sports Ohio repeats the Big Red Machine's 1976 World Series sweep of the New York Yankees this week.

While the Reds are on the West Coast, FSO is filling prime-time with Rose, Morgan, Bench, Perez and Foster winning their second consecutive world championship (after sweeping the Phillies in the NLCS). The back-to-back World Series titles were the first for an NL team since the New York Giants in 1921-22.

Need an excuse to skip the Democratic National Convention? Here's the lineup from Fox Sports Ohio:

MONDAY, JULY 25

6:30 p.m.: 1976 World Series Game 1 in Cincinnati. Don Gullett vs. Yankees pitcher Doyle Alexander. Gullett pitches strong to beat the Yankees 5-1.

9:30 p.m.: "Reds Live" pregame show

10 p.m.: Reds at Giants

TUESDAY, JULY 26

6:30 p.m.: 1976 World Series Game 2 in Cincinnati. The Yankees came back from a 3-0 deficit and ultimately tie it up in the seventh. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Ken Griffey reaches second on a throwing error by Fred Stanley and later scores the winning run on Tony Perez's line-drive single.

THURSDAY, JULY 28

7 p.m.: 1976 World Series Game 4. Johnny Bench blasts two home runs to make Gary Nolan the winning pitcher. Bench's  two-run homer highlights a three-run fourth inning for the Reds.
