Christmas tree recycling this weekend

If your once glorious Christmas tree is starting to look a little worse for wear, Hamilton County is ready to help you recycle. Three recycling sites open Saturday. They'll accept trees and other holiday greenery.

Details from Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District:

Saturday, January 4 and January 11, 2014 from noon–3:00 pm, sites will be open to receive holiday greenery.

City of Cincinnati Locations

East: Bzak Landscaping – 3295 Turpin Lane (off Rt. 32), Anderson Township MAP

(Bzak Landscaping is also open during the week, through January 11, 7:30 am - 5 pm in addition to the Saturday hours)

West: Kuliga Park – 6717 Bridgetown Road, Green Township MAP

North: Rumpke Landfill – Struble Road and Colerain Avenue, Colerain Township MAP

Guidelines

Before dropping off your greenery or Christmas tree, please remove ornaments, tinsel, tree bags, etc.

Brush and tree branches must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less and must be no larger than 12 inches in diameter.

Brush and tree branches must be bundled. Bundles must not be heavier than 50 pounds.

Yard trimmings must be brought to locations in containers or bags – brown paper bags preferred.

Containers and plastic bags will be returned.

Yard trimmings in commercial vehicles or from commercial establishments cannot be accepted.

No large trailers or trucks larger than pickups.

No pallets, boards, nails, fence, or wire accepted.

No bricks, stones, or soil accepted.

All children must stay inside vehicles.
