Cincinnati losing Econ Devp director

Cincinnati's economic development director is leaving for a job in Detroit.

Odis Jones' last day will be July 12th.   He’s accepted a position with the Detroit Public Lighting Authority.

He started his job in Cincinnati on April 22, 2012.

The city manager had just named Jones the director of the merged Economic and Community Development departments.  That change happens July 1st.

Jeff McElravy, who currently serves as Downtown Development Manager, will serve as Interim Director of the Department of Trade & Development.

The manager said in a memo he’ll conduct a national search for a new director.

Jones is the second Cincinnati employee to leave for a job in Detroit.  Former Police Chief James Craig takes over as the top cop there next month.
