Cincinnati Sewer District Leader Taking New Job In Kentucky

City of Cincinnati

Cincinnati's Metropolitan Sewer District director Tony Parrott is taking a new job in Kentucky. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, Tuesday, announced Parrott as the new executive director of Louisville’s Metropolitan Sewer District.

Parrott begins September 14.

In Cincinnati he's been overseeing a $3 billion federally mandated upgrade to the region's sewers.  Louisville is undertaking a similar $800 million federal consent decree.

In a statement Fischer says, “Tony knows water and wastewater – from the moment it falls from the sky to the moment it’s treated and released back into the environment. He understands the needs of the front-line workers and top management and has earned the respect of both. He is the right leader for our city.”

Parrott has a long career in the public utility business. He worked his way up through the ranks at Butler County's Department of Environmental Services before coming to Cincinnati.

Parrott says he's thrilled "to come back home to the great state of Kentucky."

As for his replacement, a spokesperson says Cincinnati plans to announce personnel moves next week.
