Cincinnati Using High-Tech Truck To Repair Streets

This white van, equipped with high-tech equipment just spent three weeks mapping 940 miles of Cincinnati streets. The data it collected will help the city prioritize street resurfacing projects. The PaCE (Pavement Condition Evaluator) van has four high resolution line scan cameras, four high powered lasers, a high definition camcorder, GPS, and a Distance Measuring Instrument. Cincinnati-based Infrastructure Management & Engineering (INFRAME) drove the van all over town detecting and logging data about the streets.

WVXU's Ann Thompson reported on a similar technology earlier this year in Focus on Technology.
