The University of Cincinnati's Department of Public Safety and Office of Safety and Reform will hold open forums to introduce the finalists for police chief and assistant chief. A search committee received 65 applications, and interviewed ten candidates via video conference.

Five finalists, three for the position of chief and two for assistant chief, will attend forums to meet members of the community.

“All members of the UC and Cincinnati communities are encouraged to attend each open forum, meet the candidates, ask questions and then share their thoughts with us,” said S. Gregory Baker, UC’s director of police community relations in a news release.

“The thoughts and opinions of all community members are extremely important to us and will be carefully considered by the search committee as we select the next leaders of the UC Police Department.”

UC will also accept online comments about the candidates.

The previous chief and assistant chief resigned in February after a report criticized their leadership. The report was commissioned after the fatal shooting of Samuel DuBose by a UC Police officer during a traffic stop in July 2015.
