This weekend, work takes place on the Brent Spence Bridge as two events cause some street closures downtown.

The Cincinnati Music Festival takes place July 27-28 at Paul Brown Stadium, and some of its "mini" festivals -- like Festival 513 and Cincy Soul -- will take over surrounding streets. Meanwhile, the Vibe Queen City 5k happens Saturday, resulting in additional closures. Plus, repair work occurs on the Brent Spence Bridge connecting Covington and Cincinnati.

Here's what to look out for:

Friday/Saturday

During the Cincinnati Music Festival, the city's police department will implement its Bengals traffic plan, which includes closures during certain hours.

  • Race Street south of Second Street (garage access maintained)
  • Rosa Parks Street closed to through traffic south of Second Street
  • Marion Spencer Way closed to through traffic south of Second Street

The following streets are already closed and remain that way until Sunday, July 29 at 7 p.m. to accomodate the event's additional festivals:

  • Race Street south of Second Street (garage access maintained)
  • Freedom Way between Elm Street and Rosa Parks Street
  • Fifth Street between Vine and Walnut Street

Saturday Only

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., the following streets will close in order to make way for the Vibe Queen City 5k:

  • W. Pete Rose Way westbound between Broadway and Johnny Bench Way (closes at 6 a.m.)
  • Mehring Way between W. Pete Rose Way and E. Pete Rose Way
  • Central Avenue between W. Pete Rose Way and Mehring Way

All streets are expected to reopen at around 11 a.m.
Saturday/Sunday

As for the Brent Spence Bridge repair work, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) says the right two lanes on I-71/I-75 North will close starting at 11 a.m. The closure is expected to be in place through Sunday, July 29. KYTC says that the duration of the closure is subject to change based on any unforeseen delays and urges drivers to visit either goky.ky.gov, KYTC's Facebook page or its Twitter page for the latest traffic updates, especially before the morning commute.
