History Of Disabled American Veterans Organization

Provided
The DAV was organized in Cincinnati to offer aid and assistance to the tens of thousands of veterans severely injured in World War I.

The Disabled American Veterans, or DAV, was first imagined at a 1919 Christmas party in Cincinnati. It was officially created as the Disabled American Veterans of the World War on September 25, 1920, at its first National Caucus, held in Cincinnati's Memorial Hall.

Today, the DAV has almost 1,300 chapters and nearly 1.3 million members across the country.

Joining us from the DAV to discuss the organization's history and mission are Corporate Development and Special Events Manager and DAV 5K National Race Director, Laura Rusche; and Assistant National Director of Communications Steve Wilson.

The DAV 5K Run to Honor Veterans takes place in Cincinnati this Saturday, November 11. Online registration closes November 7 at 8 a.m. Registration is available Saturday morning beginning at 7 a.m. For more information, click here
