Hamilton Police say Lester Parker is responsible for the fire leading to Fire Fighter Wolterman's death.

The man Butler County officials say is responsible for the fire that killed a Hamilton firefighter has pleaded not guilty.

Lester Parker is charged with murder and aggravated arson. Fire Fighter Patrick Wolterman died while battling a fire at Parker's house in December, 2015.

A Butler County judge Tuesday set bond at $500,000 for the 66-year-old Parker.

Parker is denying responsibility. He told a Cincinnati TV station on his way out of court that authorities need to "find the person that done it."

Hamilton Police Chief Craig Bucheit won't comment on a possible motive. The homeowners were originally thought to be out of town at the time of the fire. He says the department has "overwhelming evidence" in the case and more arrests are expected.

If convicted, the murder charge carries a possible sentence of 15 years to life in prison. Aggravated arson carries a maximum of eleven years.

His next court date is schedule for Dec. 19 before Judge Greg Stephens.
