Hurricane causes cancellation of Obama rally here

The White House just announced that President Obama will remain in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to monitor damage from Hurricane Sandy, causing the cancelation of a planned campaign rally with the president at Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati.

The president had been scheduled to rally supporters at the convention center Wednesday morning. He was also scheduled to do a rally later in the day in Akron. That too has been canceled.

"The president will remain in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to monitor the response to Hurricane Sandy and ensure that all available federal resources continue to be provided to support ongoing state and local recovery efforts,'' the White House release said.

The Obama campaign has not said if the Cincinnati event will be re-scheduled or whether or not a surrogate will be sent in his place. This story will be updated if that information becomes available.
