Nightclub Shooting Leaves One Dead And Others Injured

Update 12:05 p.m.:

Cincinnati Police say one person is dead and 15 wounded from a shooting inside a nightclub early Sunday morning.

Police Chief Eliot Isaac said the shooting at Cameo Night Club at 4601 Kellogg was the result of a conflict that started earlier in the day.

"Several local men got into some type of dispute inside the bar and it escalated into shots being fired from several individuals."

Chief Isaac told reporters he does not know if any of the shooters are among the wounded. Police have not made any arrests and are asking witnesses to come forward.

Ambulances from Cincinnati Fire and Anderson Township Fire Departments transported eight victims to local hospitals. The rest went to hospitals on their own.The man who died has been identified as 27-year-old O'Bryan Spikes.  At least one other victim was said to be in critical condition.

Chief Isaac says Cameo is a large nightclub. "The bar was very crowded, approximately a couple hundred people," Isaac said.

He said the bar does have internal security which typically pats down customers and uses metal detecting wands to search for weapons. "However, what we know at this point, several firearms were able to be brought inside the bar."

Cincinnati Police officers were patrolling the parking lot. They did not have body cameras. Isaac says officers working security details will eventually be equipped with the cameras.

The ATF and FBI are assisting with the investigation.

A shooting early Sunday morning at the Cameo Nightclub on Kellogg Avenue has left one dead and at least 14 others injured.

Initial reports indicated there may have been more than one shooter. Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate tweeted there is one reported shooter at this time and they are still investigating if others are involved.  A second tweet says

"At this point it's unclear exactly what instigated the shooting," said Captain Kim Williams at a news conference Sunday morning.  He said four officers were working security detail at the club and were administering first aid.  He called the scene chaotic.

Police are still looking for a suspect.
