"Nothing Is Inevitable": Examining The Latest News Out Of Washington

Results in state primary races Tuesday show the continued unpredictability of the November midterm elections.

Progressive groups step-up efforts to unite Democrats against Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court ahead of his nomination hearings, scheduled to begin September 4. President Donald Trump touts a deal with Mexico and threatens to exclude Canada from a revised North American Free Trade Agreement. Trump accuses Google of rigging its search results to show only "bad" stories about the President.

And amid another week of bitter political confrontation, the nation mourns and remembers Senator John McCain, who in his final farewell letter advised, "Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here."
