For the 11th straight year, Lee Hay has assembled some of the best local musicians and contributors to celebrate the season in word and music.
This year’s 2-hour special opens with a reading of The Night Before Christmas by Phil Nuxhall, followed by a mix of holiday music, old and new, recorded just for this program by local musicians including Sonny Moorman, Rick Lisak, Brad Myers, Jim Pelz, Bobby Mackey, Lee Stolar, Suzanne Bona & Richard Goering, and Serenity Fisher with additional performances by Darren Goodman and Stuart Holman. You'll also enjoy music from holiday CD's by Zak Morgan, Over the Rhine and the Cincinnati Pops plus a couple of Christmas songs recorded at King Records by Freddie King.
Also on the show will be a reading by Rick Pender; Kelly Richey’s story about her first guitar which she received for Christmas; one of the actors from The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati shares a scene from their recent production of A Charlie Brown Christmas; and storyteller/comedian Paul Strickland tells a story about Big Fib Trailer Park at Christmas time. There are poetry recitations by Ron Esposito, Jeffrey Hilliard, Barbara Gray, Kelly Blewett, and Sherry Cook Stanforth. Local children’s author Aaron Smith reads from his book, The Pfeffernusse Goose.
(This special will re-air at 7pm on Christmas Day)
