Playhouse in the Park presents the world premiere of "Safe House," set in pre-Civil War NKY

Later this month, Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park is presenting the world premiere of Safe House, by playwright Keith Josef Adkins. Inspired by Adkin?s' ancestors, Safe House is set in Northern Kentucky in 1843, almost 20 years before the start of the Civil War, and tells the journey of a free family of color, and two brothers who have conflicting dreams about how to secure their futures. Keith Joseph Adkins and Playhouse associate artist Timothy Douglas, who is directing this production, join us to discuss the themes raised in the play.

Safe House will be presented at the Playhouse?'s Robert S. Marx Theatre October 18 through November 15. The Playhouse and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center host a panel discussion at the Center on Monday, October 20 at 6:00 PM to explore the issues raised in Safe House.
