More Ohio voters approve than disapprove of Ohio Gov. John Kasich's job performance, but they are still not convinced he should be re-elected in 2014, according to a Quinnipiac University Pollreleased Tuesday.
Kasich's job approval rating was at 42 percent, with 35 percent saying they disapprove of the way the Republican governor is doing his job. That is the first time since his inauguration in Jan. 2011 that Quinnipiac has polled positive numbers for Kasich on job approval.
But when asked if Kasich deserves to be re-elected, only 36 percent say he does and 43 percent said he does not.
They tend to like him as a person, though - 43 percent said they like him personally, regardless of his policies, while 19 percent said they do not.
The poll also looked at President Obama's job approval rating; and found that 54 percent approve while 42 percent disapprove. Over the past two years, Obama, who won Ohio in last month's election, has had approval rating in the 40s.
The poll interviewed 1,165 registered Ohio voters between Dec. 4-9. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percent.
