SB471 construction starts April 12th

Provided

If your evening commute involves Southbound 471 get ready for orange barrels.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Nancy Wood says construction work is set to begin on April 12th.

It's a continuation of a project started last year, when the northbound side of the interstate was rebuilt.

Contractors will be working to remove deteriorated concrete from three lanes, shoulders and all exit and entrance ramps.  It also involves repairing and replacing the surfaces on bridge decks including the Daniel Carter Beard, or Big Mac bridge.

Construction crews will also be adding an additional lane to the exit ramp from southbound 471 to westbound 275.

Traffic lanes will be restricted and some ramps will be totally shut down periodically throughout the project.

Last year's project on North 471 went faster than expected.

Officials will likely hold a press conference next week to talk about this year's construction projects in Northern Kentucky.
