Drivers don't often get excited about road construction but some in the Eastgate area may like this project. After delaying reconstruction of the I-275 / U.S. 32 interchange to 2019, the Ohio Department of Transportation now says work could begin in May.
Spokeswoman Sharon Smigielski says in-house cost cutting and an unexpected infusion of federal funds are pushing construction up.
"This is an important piece of our overall work on the Eastern Corridor. It will improve traffic flow, ease congestion and overall be a better thing for the entire region," she says.
The ramp reconstruction is expected to cost around $45 million and take two years to complete.
