The recent suicide of a transgender teen sparked a discussion on gender identity, both locally and across the country. But how the story was covered and several of the terms used to discuss the issue may have been unfamiliar or confusing to many. Joining us to help explain some of the basics in the transgender discussion are Dr. Sarah Carothers, assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology with Cincinnati Children'?s Hospital Medical Center and University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and social worker Sarah Painer, with Children?'s Hospital'?s Transgender Health Clinic.
