WKRC-TV, WEBN-FM Plan For Sunday's Fireworks

WEBN-FM

If you're not heading to the Ohio River banks Sunday, here are the broadcasting plans for the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks on WEBN-FM (102.7) and WKRC-TV (Channel 12).

WEBN-FM will celebrate its 40th annual fireworks with Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks choreographed to a "40 years of fireworks themed soundtrack" on the radio station, WEBN-FM announced in July.

The fireworks will air at 9:05 p.m. Sunday.

WKRC-TV: After a one-year absence, the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks return to television as a live one-hour Channel 12 special at 9 p.m.

Channel 12 viewers will see mostly fireworks since the show is only an hour, instead of the two-hour show Cincinnati TV viewers usually watched until 2015 with lots of time-filling features, crowd interviews and Riverfest highlights taped earlier in the day.

Main anchors Rob Braun and Cammy Dierking will host the show from Newport on the Levee. "Good Morning Cincinnati" host Sheila Gray will report fan reaction from Northern Kentucky, and Bob Herzog will report from the Cincinnati riverbank.

Todd Marrington will direct the telecast using seven cameras, including one on a fireworks barge. Doug Lillibridge is executive producer.

This is the 40th annual fireworks, which started on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1977, to celebrate the station's 10th anniversary. WEBN-FM went on the air at 5:45 a.m. on Aug. 30, 1967, playing owner Frank Wood Sr.'s favorite music – classical music.
