Mandy Patinkin coming to Music Hall

His presence on stage, screen and television is unmistakable – Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway, The Princess Bride on film, Homeland on television. Mandy Patinkin is multi-talented, but his singing is how he first achieved fame. He will be joining the Cincinnati Pops for three concerts April 19-21, performing songs from his stage career as well as some of his favorite popular standards. Mandy Patinkin is on the phone with our Rick Pender to talk about his career and these upcoming concerts.

Elementz Hip-Hop Youth Center

It’s hard to believe, but Elementz, Cincinnati’s hip hop youth services organization, is celebrating its 8th anniversary this year. They moved into a new, larger space last year and continue to expand programs designed to keep our city’s young people safe, off the streets, and moving towards an educated, positive life. Brother Abdullah Powell, the creative director of Elementz, is in the studio with Mark Perzel to talk about the past eight years and what he sees for the organization in the coming years.

Final ArtsWave Sampler on Saturday

The third and final Macy’s Arts Sampler from ArtsWave happens on Saturday, April 13, and will include the first Amazing Arts Race where teams vie to complete a series of arts-related challenges including trivia and art making. There will also be free events in Washington Park, the Taft Museum of Art, the Fitton Center and many more. Rebecca Bromels from ArtsWave tells Mark Perzel that all of this is leading up to the conclusion of the 2013 ArtsWave campaign and the public announcement of this year’s total raised on Tuesday, April 30.
