Sittenfeld begins effort to restore state funding cuts

Cincinnati City Council member P.G. Sittenfeld - joined by elected officials from several of Ohio's major cities - has created a web site to drum up public support to restore all of the the nearly $3 billion in cuts to the Local Government  Fund made by Gov. John Kasich and the Ohio legislature two years ago.

Kasich not picking any more fights with unions

Don’t touch the third rail.
 

You’ve probably heard people in politics talk about the “third rail” – the one on a subway track that carries the electric power.


In Congress, the “third rail” has traditionally been a hot-button issue like Social Security. If you even hint at reducing benefits or raising the eligibility age, you face the wrath of hordes of seniors and baby boomers who just might turn you out of office.


You don’t survive touching the third rail.

Kasich to keynote Hamilton County GOP dinner

Ohio Gov. John Kasich will take a break from selling his budget plan to the state legislature Monday night when he comes to Cincinnati to be the keynote speaker at the Hamilton County Republican Party's annual Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner.

The dinner and program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Junior Ballroom of the Duke Energy Convention Center downtown, with the governor making his speech a half hour later.

The Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner is one of the party's major fundraising events of the year. This year, ticket prices begin at $75 for individuals and $750 for a table of 10.
