What if there were one billion of us?
Writer and podcast host Matthew Yglesias suggests that that would be a positive development for the country in his new book One Billion Americans: The Case for Thinking Bigger.
Yglesias argues that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we have witnessed the U.S. lose the will and means to lead the global community and marketplace.
Among the arguments he makes in One Billion Americans, Yglesias says that America should take its decline seriously, particularly as it faces stiffer competition from China and India, two nations with more than a billion people.
To get there, Yglesias writes, immigration should be more welcomed, families should be supported, and growth should be encouraged.
Matthew Yglesias joins Cincinnati Edition to talk about his book.
