The former troubled Kenwood Towne Place, now known as Kenwood Collectionwill open in the spring of 2015. As it takes shape, Sycamore Township is being proactive to prevent traffic problems.
You don't have to remind Township Board President Tom Weidman how backed up traffic can get in Kenwood around the holidays. He says, "From the first day after Thanksgiving to sometime in January we all have to coexist down there."
The Ohio Department of Transportation and Hamilton County have given Sycamore Township permission to control the 21 traffic lights on Montgomery, Galbraith and Kenwood surrounding the Kenwood Towne Mall and Kenwood Collection. Weidman says the township will monitor cameras on each one of the lights and adjust the timing to move traffic along.
Initially it will be from the day after Thanksgiving until after the first of the year. Traffic monitoring becomes more important as the Kenwood Collection opens.
On Tuesday developer Phillips Edison announced Neace Lukensis the first major office tenant. Spokesman Pat Crowley, says the parking garage will use LED lighting above each space. "So if you're looking down a long aisle and you're looking for a space, you'll be able to see if there is a green space along that row of cars."
Crowley says Kenwood Collection has secured a major retailer and it will be announced within a month.
