When you do the math you can't go wrong with a job in the STEM fields. According to Careercast.com, mathematicians rank No. 2 among the best careers in 2018. The demand for experts who can do statistical analysis is growing in all business sectors and that need is expected to lead to a 23% increase in demand by 2022.

With so many promising career opportunities in the STEM fields, are schools providing the best math education to young students? The Mathematical Association of America is meeting in Cincinnati this week for MathFest, an annual conference to explore math education and careers. The event is expected to draw more than 1,700 math-loving visitors to Duke Energy Convention Center from July 31 to Aug. 3.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the event, careers in mathematics and math education are Mathematical Association of America President Michael Dorff, Ph.D.; and Deputy Executive Director Rachel Levy, Ph.D.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
