The War on Drugs, Time to Change Tactics?

The United States has been waging the War on Drugs for more than 40 years, spending an estimated $1 trillion  during  that time. Many wonder if it’s time to re-think how we fight drug abuse and the criminal enterprise that surrounds and fosters it, through a system of substance regulation and control. Joining us to discuss drug legalization or decriminalization are Coalition for a Drug Free Cincinnati Executive Director Mary Haag, Dave Logan, executive director  of Prospect House, and Howard Rahtz, author, past executive director of the Alcoholism Council, and retired Cincinnati Police captain.

Maryanne Zeleznik joined WVXU in 2005 and is responsible for all news and public affairs programming. She also hosts Morning Edition Monday through Friday.
