Discrimination and stigma can create barriers to recovery for people facing mental health issues. But changing perceptions about mental illness can help remove those barriers. Lindner Center of HOPE is holding an Education Day on Sunday, May 3, to enhance awareness of mental illness and addiction, and ultimately, help reduce stigma surrounding these conditions. Joining us from the Lindner Center of HOPE to discuss evolving attitudes towards mental health issues are President and CEO Dr. Paul Keck; Stacey Reese, manager of Inpatient Social Work and Spiritual Care and a social worker at the Lindner Sibcy House; and, Chief Operating Officer Brian Owens.
JOURNEY to Successful Living, a program of the Hamilton County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, will recognize National Children?'s Mental Health Awareness Dayon Thursday, May 7. The campaign will focus on "Heroes of Hope,? carrying the message that young people, ages 14-21 with mental health challenges can demonstrate resilience with the help of caring adults and a system of care that is well-informed."
