The Sex Talk No One Is Having

campus sexual assault
Meg Vogel/The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati Enquirer reporters interviewed 24 people for the video report The sex Talk: The conversation that is not happening about campus sexual assault.

Sexual assault on college campuses has been called an epidemic. It's estimated that one in five women and one in 16 men will experience some form of sexual violence during college. But the process colleges and universities use to investigate and adjudicate reported sexual assaults appears to be broken.

It's a difficult subject to discuss. Many victims of sexual assault don't file a report with campus officials or police out of fear, embarrassment or confusion. Many will not discuss their experience with anyone.

In the summer of 2017, Cincinnati Enquirer higher education reporter Kate Murphy (@KateMurphyENQ) and video journalist Meg Vogel (@MegVogelphoto) interviewed 24 individuals – students, college officials, graduates, police officers, assault survivors and those accused of assault – to hear what they had to say and begin a meaningful conversation about how to address and prevent sexual assault on campus.

Kate Murphy and Meg Vogel join Cincinnati Edition to share what they learned in producing "The Sex Talk: The conversation that is not happening about campus sexual assault."
