Blue Angels Cancel Dayton Appearance

The U.S. Navy flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels, fly in the Delta Formation at the 2014 Vectren Dayton Air Show.

The Vectren Dayton Air Show is confirming the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will not perform at next weekend's show.

Spokesman Roger Doctor says there just isn't enough time for the demonstration team to pull everything together between last week's deadly crash and the air show June 18 & 19. He says it's typical for the unit to order a "safety stand down" to do inspections, investigate what happened.

Pilot Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss died last Thursday, June 2 when his F/A 18 crashed during a practice session in Tennessee. Kuss piloted Blue Angel #6 and was in his second year with the team, his first as a demonstration pilot.

The U.S. Navy temporarily grounded the flying team after the incident.
