Hamilton County Emergency Management wants to know if you're ready for a disaster.
Assistant Director Ryan McEwan says the agency is updating its hazard mitigation plan. Part of that regular five-year update includes a survey to find out if local disaster plans are adequate. He says the 25 questions for Hamilton County residents are online.
"We're asking everything from how do they get emergency information, do they have emergency kits, do they have disaster plans. We ask them about specific hazards that we've identified and ask them to prioritize which one they think they're at greater risk for."
McEwan says there have been 800 responses since the survey went live Thursday.
"We already scheduled this to start right at September which is National Preparedness Month. It just so happened that because of everything going on in Texas with Hurricane Harvey, there's a greater level of interest in people being prepared."
McEwan says he's hoping to have at least 3,000 responses before October 31. That's when the survey ends.
"The more responses we get, the better information we'll have and the better we'll be able to help people be prepared," he says.
McEwan says the survey only takes about ten minutes to complete.
