Which Ohio High Schools Boast The Most Pro Athletes?
If you've lived in Cincinnati for any length of time, you've probably been asked which high school you attended. Think of this as the professional athelete version of that question...
Ohio ranks fifth in the country, per capita, for sending athletes to three professional sports leagues, the NFL, NBA, and MLB. The study doesn't take other leagues or female athletes into account.
CreditLoan.com crunched the numbers and found the top five Ohio high schools claim more than 129 professional athletes on their alumni rosters.
Here are the top five:
Some Cincinnati schools topping the list include Elder (18), Withrow (18), St. Xavier (16), Princeton (15), Moeller (13 or 14*), Western Hills (14).
Per capita, Washington D.C. leads the list, followed by Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, with Ohio rounding out the top five.
Indiana ranks 20th and Kentucky comes in at 29th.
Who's last? That would be our friends way up north in Alaska, though Lathrop High School in Fairbanks does boast two players among the professional ranks.
Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California has the most professional athletes at 64.
*Moeller is listed twice, as "Moeller" with 14 pro players and "Archbishop Moeller" with 13 pro players.
