A winter storm warning goes into effect for much of the area Friday night, and lasts through Sunday. National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Hrebenach says snow should start falling late Friday.
"That snow's going to continue through most of the day into Saturday night, before tapering off. A little bit of warmer air could move in and there could be a mix of rain or freezing rain but it's mostly going to be a snow event," Hrebenach says.
He says most places around Cincinnati will see three to five inches of snow.
"We're looking at highs in low to mid 30s at least through the early part of next week. So, if we get some sun, you could get some melting, especially on pavement."
In a written statement, a spokesperson for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says much of the Weather Service's operations are still in place and operational during the partial government shutdown. Julie Roberts could not provide specifics for the Wilmington office.
