Communities United For Action (CUFA) says the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) isn't doing enough protect people from sewer overflows and expensive bills. The agency is hosting a public meeting Saturday with EPA officials to give people an opportunity to voice their concerns."We are hosting this meeting because we are concerned about the situation with our sewers here in Hamilton County and we are hoping that the United States Environmental Protection Agency will help us in our quest to make our sewers affordable and to get them fixed," says CUFA Executive Director Mary Metzmeier.
"Specifically we are interested in making sure that the sewers get fixed in the neighborhoods that are most heavily impacted by sewer overflows and sewer backups," she adds.
Metzmeier says neither of the Phase Two sewer overhaul plans Cincinnati and Hamilton County are currently fighting over have solutions for some of the worst-affected communities. Those, she says, include Bond Hill, Ludlow Run, Lincoln Heights, among others.
The meeting is from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at College Hill Presbyterian Church on Hamilton Ave.
