Officer Kaia Grant.

Funeral services for Springdale Police Officer Kaia Grant are this Sunday. She was killed Saturday night when she was struck by a vehicle during a pursuit on I-275.

The funeral will be livestreamed, and Springdale Police encourage everyone attending the service or viewing the procession to observe social distancing. A procession will leave Spring Grove Cemetery Sunday at 9 a.m., and will pass by Wyoming High School and the Springdale police and fire stations before going to Vineyard Church on Century Circle East for the services.

Police say much of the procession route is through residential neighborhoods, and they encourage people to step outside to pay their respects as it passes by.

Grant, 33, was an eight-year veteran of the Springdale Department. Springdale Mayor Doyle Webster told reporters this is the first line of duty death in the city's history, and called Grant's death a senseless tragedy.
