News from Lake Wobegon: Garrison Keillor’s popular Saturday night show will be cut short by NPR stations for coverage of election results.
WVXU-FM and other National Public Radio affiliates will cut away from “A Prairie Home Companion” at 7 p.m. for live coverage of the South Carolina Republican primary and the Nevada Democratic caucuses.
Keillor’s entire show will repeat noon Sunday on WVXU-FM, as usual.
NPR political coverage also will preempt all or part of “LA Theater Works” 8-10 p.m. Saturday, says Kevin Reynolds, WVXU-FM community relations manager.
“We are waiting to hear if NPR is going to do live coverage of the South Carolina Democratic primary on Saturday, Feb 27. If so, we’d have to preempt hour two of ‘Prairie Home’ again,’ Reynolds says.
WVXU-FM also will air NPR’s live election results coverage at 8 p.m. March 1 on “Super Tuesday,” and at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 for primaries in Ohio and other states.
