The joint WCET-TV and WPTD-TV Action Auction, the biggest fundraiser for the Southwestern Ohio public television stations, has been posted a second time, until Sept. 9-12.
The new September dates will be early enough so they won't compete with the broadcast networks premiering new fall shows – if there are any, due to production delays from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Wednesday-Saturday September Action Auction will be conducted under the revisions announced for the June 17-20 date. In order to limit the number of volunteers needed in the Channel 48 studios, the Cincinnati and Dayton public TV stations"will also be utilizing online bidding and, for the first time, will have scheduled pickups, said Kellie May, manager of communications and digital initiatives. Here's a link to the auction site.
At the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March, the stations announced the Action Auction would be delayed from April 20-26 to June 17-20 "out of respect for the health of the volunteers, employees and other community members."
In February, the stations announced that the Action Auction and Dayton's Great TV Auction would be combined for the first time and air six days on both stations. Last year, just part of the Action Auction aired on sister station WPTO-TV, broadcast from WXIX-TV's Cincinnati tower, but not on Dayton's "ThinkTV" WPTD-TV.
The September Action Auction will be only four days, the same amount as the postponed June 17-20 event.
